RELATIONSHIP OF ANCIENT MYTH AND BIBLE IN PEKIĆ’S »GOLDEN FLEECE«
Keywords:
аncient myths, PekićAbstract
Ancient myths and Biblical material, which suffuse Pekić’s Golden Fleece, are brought into semantic proximity. The relationship, thus established between these two subtexts, broadens the novelistic meanings. Narration of the history of Simeons flows in the reverse chronological order, so that Biblical allusions from the beginning of the novel are moving towards the orphic idea of ancient myths which is located near the novel’s end. Implicitly present Biblical subtext permits us to observe the destiny of Njegovan in the key of the guilt for Christ’s crucifixion, which conditions a periodic renewal of Biblical archetypes in some members of the Simeon family and completes, with the ancient myth, the already problematized spiritual orientation of Njegovan.
