The study is concerned with meditating on binary and oxymoron nature of a wise madman in postmodern literature using the example of the novel „Last Love on Constantinopole“ by Milorad Pavić. A madman is a being that is a conformation of archeological nature of postmodernism, it bears in himself double theological-philosophical system, Christian and ancient Greek one, layers of the past that form modern system. The very madman is contradictory in himself, it connects at one time non-joinable aesthetic categories of sublime and comic, tragic and ugly. It is a confirmation of the present as a super-simulation, and wise leads, as Don Quijote and Hamlet used to by means of parody, towards comprehensions and freedoms.
