Beginning with the basic concept of the apocalypse as the one of destruction leading toward salvation, the author sets out to elaborate the history of Ancient literature, as well as the archeology of the postmodern condition, with the aim of delineating a few of the relevant literary and historical moments in contemporary Serbian prose writing, ranging from Radomir Konstantinović up to Goran Petrović and Vladimir Tasić. The issue of the postmodern condition is thus brought into relation with the historical and literary dynamics, highlighting the arche-traces of postmodern strategies present with Dositej and Njegoš.
