PASSIVE AS UNPROTOTYPICAL SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION

passiveAbstract
The standard categorization of prototype categories defines prototypes as the most representative members within a certain category of membership. However, the degree of that membership can largely vary and thus depend upon the speaker of a language, being to a greater or lesser degree close to the prototype or prototypical construction itself. This paper deals with unprototypical passive verb phrase construction within different contexts, thus perceived in a variety of ways depending on the method by means of which certain information/phe- nomenon is conveyed and on the way it is perceived and experienced by the recipient, respectively. Hence, it may lead us to conclude that this unprototypical construction can perhaps be the only way to communicate certain phenomena when the latter are placed within specific domains of human experience.
